Rethinking Busy

How did we get to January? Every time the calendar flips I wish that I could hit the “pause” button on my life and catch up. Yet, time continues to clip by at the same pace and we are left scrambling. There are some days when I feel like I have it all together, but mostly I feel steps behind. This feeling of falling behind and trying to catch up leaves me tired, depleted and stressed.
I know that I am not the only one to feel this way. It seems we all walk about reporting to others how “busy” we are and recite the list of all the things we have to get done and should be doing. 
Let’s make this year different.
This year let’s take the time to slow down – to actively try to do less and experience more.
  • Take five minutes to do absolutely nothing and be okay with it
  • Be grateful each day for at least one thing
  • Pause before acting or speaking in haste
  • Learn how to say “no” gracefully (and firmly) with kindness
  • Know what is important to you
  • Take real breaks and unplug 
  • Breathe deeply and let go
